TRAINING

Conception of building a health centre with the capacity to generate medical manpower to the then-NEFA was mooted and a Health Training & Research Centre was established in the 1^st Five Year Plan. Sir Fazal Ali, Governor of Assam inaugurated the Centre for the public in 1958. The first batch of 6 nos Nurses were recruited in that year and they successfully completed the course in October 1960.

Different training courses were started in HTRC Pasighat from time to time, which had to be discontinued for different reasons. Example, training of Health Assistant (Senior) started in 1959 were discontinued in 1961; Pharmacist training started in 1966, had to be discontinued in 1980.

The Centre had two other set back, one in the year 1984 and the other in 7^th December 2006. A devastating fire almost gutted three-fourth of the buildings and other valuables. But this institute never failed to render services to the people even for a day. The recent fire that broke out in 2006, marred a festive occasion of Capping Ceremony to a heart breaking tragedy. Now there is no trace of that tragic event. Pasighat General Hospital is built up again with strong support from local Govt, local leaders & public within a record time with allocation of generous fund from State Plan and execution of quality work by the PWD, Pasighat. Today it is a blooming and growing organization marching forward with the newer medical technology and achievements.
