Good evening;
I am honored to get thisopportunity to welcome you all to the sacred function of Capping & LampLighting Ceremony of 41th batch of nursing students of this institution. Todayis a great day for our students who will take pledge to dedicate their livesfor the service of suffering mankind. The Ceremony is certainly a moment thatwe should all savor/relish and enjoy. I am also very proud to be associatedwith this great institution, who is entering 100yrs of it’s existence in2011.The life history of GH Pasighat is noteworthy. During the Anglo-Abor warperiod, the demand for medical facilities to the injured British soldier yieldedin set up of a small health unit by the British Govt in 1912 on the bank ofriver Siang at Pasighat. Until 1914, the health facilities were extended to theemployees of British Govt only but then by 1915 onwards it opened for thecivilians
.
Being endangered by the erosion caused by the river Siangafter the devastating earthquake of 1950 with 8.6 magnitudes, the health centrewas shifted at the present site. The foundation stone of the new civil hospitalwas laid down on 4th March 1954 by Shri Fazal Ali, the Governor ofAssam, who was then the constitutional administrator of NEFA.
With passage of time, the hospital has undergone many stagesof evolution. Two major fire setbacks even could not withhold the spirit of developmentalactivities and the hospital emerged quickly with firm determination andcohesive service. Today our institution is the front-runner in givingcomprehensive health care services to the needy and sick individual in thestate and the recent additions of Mental wing and full pledged Ayurvedic wardhave intensified medical facilities.
Let me take this occasion to extend our sincere gratitude toSri Ralom Borang Hon,ble MLA Mebo circle for donating us a Hemo-Dialysis unit,a life saving machine which will be used in kidney failure patients to caterthe people Pasighat and surrounding five districts and adjoining Assam. Themachine is under active process of installation and will be commissioned foruse within this month. Sri Ralom Borang name will be written in the history ofhospital milestone. Almighty god may bless him more success and wisdom to do moreservice that is benevolent for mankind.
Today ifyou look around the hospital, the standing concrete two-way gate at theentrance will add more color and grandeur to this old existing hospital andthis will remain as symbolic to this institution in many years to come. In thisconnection The Director, JAYPEE Arunachal power, Sri B K Sharma and hisenergetic team, deserve applause from the people of East Siang. Many manythanks to Sharmaji and Jaypee Arunachal Power ltd. Almighty Donny Polo may givethem more strength to do more philanthropic and humanitarian services in future.

I on behalf of thisinstitution extend my sincere gratitude to you for constant support in oureffort to improve our hospital and looking forward to maintain our lastingcordial relationship.
Today theroad in front of the casualty and OPD building is widen. This road now directlyend at postmortem building which was needed for long time back. Theconstruction of office porch, the circular road in front of office buildingwith culverts and parking lawn in front of office and etc etc are the gift ofSri Bosiram Siramji MLA, presently the hon’ble Min Education Govt. of AP. Sir,you are truly the godfather of our institution and also of entire Pasighat. TheGod is great to have bestowed us a real leader in the form of Sri BosiramSiram. Thanks you Sir.
You know Sir, the General Hospital Pasighat, as per Govt ofIndia’s decision in 2008, was selected under Quality ImprovementInitiatives. The Hospital was underconsultancy services since June 2009 provided by National Health SystemResource Centre (NHSRC), Govt.of India, New Delhi to provide technical supportfor initiating the work of ISO accreditation of the Hospital. On successfulcompletion of Stage-I & II Audit by Indian Registers quality System (IRQS),today, General Hospital Pasighat is a pride of the State being the first ISO9001:2008 certified hospital. May I take this opportunity to acknowledge thededication, hard work and more importantly united effort demonstrated by allthe staffs of this great institution. I congratulate to each and every membersof our institution on this solemn occasion.
Butfriend, our job is not yet finished; rather a vast responsibility is nowbestowed upon us. We have to be more determined, more define, refine and workharder in all our approach to address all the problems.However it must be clear to the government and to the public in general thatthe present condition of our hospital will not be able to hold the status of ISO-standardizationfor long period unless the mandatory shortcomings are addressed by thegovernment at earliest. The department of Health & Family Welfare must takeproactive measure to fulfill all the vacancies of specialist doctors, staffs nurses, sanitary personals,above all procurement of some latest equipments and infrastructural improvementsmust be done without which the hospital administration can never preserve theISO accreditation conferred upon us. It will be greatly appreciated if the governmentcreate a separate monitoring cell for GH Pasighat as ISO 9001-2008 Hospital in Arunachal Pradesh toaddress any shortcoming required in conformity to the demand of quality standardizationso that this institution remains as example for other health setup in thestate.
Dear students, the cap you would put on your head thisevening will be symbolic of your induction to this noble profession of nursing.We hope that when you move out to your work-field, you would remember thepledge and the oath; you have taken today to contribute to the prestige of thisesteemed profession. The life of a fellow human being will be at the hand ofyour responsibility. A mistake in giving medicine may cause the life of apatient. A negligence during duty hour at night may lead to irreparable damageto the vital organs. Therefore your sole responsibility is to provide the bestcare to the patient. During the practice, a nurse doesn’t identify caste,creed, community, religion, rich, poor and gender. The universal brotherhoodand sisterhood should be your lifelong motto.
Dear students, without recollecting the mother of “theModern nursing profession” Miss Florence Nightingale, this solemn function willremain incomplete.
Miss Florence Nightingale was born into a wealthy family inFlorence in 1820. She sacrificed a conventional upper class woman’s life andwent against her parents wishes to join nursing training in Germany in the year1951. In the Crimean war in 1854, with her team of nurses she nursed woundedBritish soldiers and where she earned the name of the “Lady with the Lamp”. Iwould request all my students including all other nursing staffs of ourinstitution to emulate the selfless service of miss Florence nightingale.
Ladies andGentlemen, the whole ongoing year 2011 is considered centenary year for GHPasighat. We the doctors of this centennial institution like to celebrate the occasionin the form of conducting regular seminars and free medical camps throughoutthe East Siang including adjoining other districts. Seven numbers of eminent surgeons, twoMedical Specialists and one gastroenterologist have already arrived at Pasighatand will do operation tomorrow in our hospital. I am sure that the people ofEast Siang and adjoining districts will get benefit from their expertise.
