GENERAL HOSPITAL PASIGHAT
Bakin Pertin General Hospital & Training Centre, Pasighat is the oldest and biggest health institution in the state. Started as a small health centre in 1912 to cater the need of few British soldiers, the centre the institute has trekked through many a hurdles to reach the present status. The institution glorifying its grandeur is spreading the health care service beyond the border of districts of East Siang & State of Arunachal. The hospital originally located in the bank of the Siang, had to be shifted to the present site following the massive erosion by the Mighty Siang after the great earthquake in 1950, on the Independence Day. Some of the remnants of the old building are still reminding the old memory.
It is an honour for the State that General Hospital Pasighat by virtue of its congenial environment, dedicated workforce and the infrastructure setup, is selected under Quality Improvement Initiatives (ISO certification) of Regional Resource Centre for NE States (RRC-NE) as per Govt’s decision in a meeting held on 6th November 2008, under the chairmanship of Mission Director, NRHM, Govt of India. Accordingly, the Hospital is on supervision since June 2009 by ACME Consulting, Chennai, a consultancy engaged by National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC), New Delhi, to provide technical support for initiating the work of ISO accreditation of the Hospital.
